This week, Karen is joined by Jackie Carter, Professor in Statistical Literacy at the University of Manchester, to talk about how to make data analytics careers accessible to all. In this episode, Jackie highlights the importance of opening the field to more diverse backgrounds as many university degrees now include courses in data analytics. She explains how social science students, for example, add value to data teams, bringing a different perspective focusing on the why of behaviours. She touches on the need to solve the diversity issue before it reaches the workplace, speaks about the barriers to entry and how to solve them. Finally, she shares her best advice for students looking to build some work experience.
